Welcome to the magnificent Timberline Lodge. Every year our family tries to spend at least one night up at Mt. Hood's historic lodge. I am so inspired by the level of artistry and craftsmanship this majestic place displays. It was built during the Great Depression by WPA artists and craftsmen and does not disappoint. Massive timber, cozy fireplaces, NW art, Pendleton blankets and fabric everywhere, and lots and lots of chocolate....oh, and skiing too! Life doesn't get much better. I get a little overstimulated and distracted here because there are so many things I want to investigate. If you are ever in the area it is a must see! And don't forget to order one of their hot chocolates....they are amazing! Oh, and they sell s'more packets too! The image above is of the front door where a large, carved, Native American warrior greets you. Above is a large scale wood carving atop the massive fireplace in the dining room. Rustic Joinery at it's finest. The WPA even made the furniture in the lodge.
